Check Out This Amazing Passage

It's been a while... a core Scripture passage for me this past year is from Lamentations (of all places in the Bible), chapter 3. You have to read the first 20 verses to embrace more fully the depth of these words that Jeremiah writes...

"Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, 'The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.' The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord." Lamentations 3: 21-26

The thing that strikes me the most is how discouraged and full of despair Jeremiah is in the first 20 verses. Yet in the midst of this, he is able to "call to mind" the beautiful truths of who God is. This tells me that Jeremiah had given himself to pursuing and building a relationship with God that was strong and intimate. I want this kind of relationship with God - that no matter what situation I'm facing, I will be able to remember His unfailing love, mercy, and faithfulness.
